Problems
Q. Links don't
work or images are not showing up or site
takes a long time to load up.
A.
It may well be that you
have some sort of “personal
firewall” or ad-blocking
software such as ad muncher/proxomitron/adshield/google
toolbar/hosts file on your computer
which is blocking access to our website
or of our advertisers offering special
offers and removing links before you can
even see them!! Advert-blocking software
uses a variety of methods to check to see
if something is likely to be an unwanted
advertisment worthy of blocking, rather
than actual web-content.
If you know that you have “personal
firewall” or ad-blocking software
running on your computer, such as Norton
Personal Firewall or some versions
of the AOL browser, you
will need to check your browser’s
settings and the settings for the firewall/blocker
and alter or disable them
in order to allow access to this website.
Shutting down your
firewall for the time you are
on our website will highlight whether
it is actually the firewall itself causing
the problem, if this is the case the
instructions below will help your reconfigure
your firewall.
Try to shutdown your firewall
or security system for 5 mins,
now press REFRESH or press F5.
Try to click the banner ads. If they now
show up, then you have found the problem!

Q. When you go to specific
Web pages, not all of the page is displayed.
If you disable some features of Norton
Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal
Firewall (NPF), all of the page is displayed.
A.
This problem happens when
Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal
Firewall has been configured to block scripts,
ActiveX controls, Java applets, referral
information, or advertisements.
ActiveX controls and Java applets can be
blocked by customizing your security settings
from the main interface. To find out whether
this is the problem, read the section "Customized
settings."
All of these security features (scripts,
ActiveX controls, Java applets, referral
information, and advertisements) can be
blocked by specific Web rules. These rules
are located in the Advanced Options of
the program. For scripts, ActiveX controls,
Java applets, and referral information,
see the "Web rules" section of this document.
Customized settings
- Open your Symantec desktop Internet
security or firewall product.
- Click Security.
- Click Custom Level. The "Customize
Security Settings" window appears.
- Look at both the Java applet and ActiveX
boxes. If either or both are set to block,
lower the security level and then click
OK. (In the example above, Java applets
are being blocked.)
- Try to connect to the Web page again.
Web rules
If elements of the Web page are still being blocked, there may be a Web rule
that is blocking scripts, Java applets, Active X controls, or referrer information.
- Open NIS or NPF.
- Click Options, and then click Internet
Security (or Personal Firewall).
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click the Web tab.
- Click "Add Site."
- Type
the
URL
for
the
Web
site
that
contains
that
Web
page.
For
example:
www.test.com
may
be
the
Web
site
that
contains
the
page
www.test.com/samples/sample1.html.
- Click
OK.
This
step
adds
an
entry
to
list
for
that
Web
site.
Note
that
if
the
Web
site
was
already
listed,
this
action
does
not
add
another
entry.
- In
the
left
frame,
click
the
name
of
that
Web
site.
- In
the
right
frame,
click
the
Active
Content
tab.
- If Script is set to Block, change the
setting to Permit (or to "Allow all script
to execute," depending on your NIS or
NPF version).
- If the first box for Binary Executables
is set to Block, change the setting to "Allow
Java applets to execute."
- If
the
second
box
for
Binary
Executables
is
set
to
Block,
change
the
setting
to "Allow
ActiveX
controls
to
execute."
- Click
the
Privacy
tab.
- Look
at
the
checkbox "Use
these
rules
for <name
of
Web
site>".
- If the box is not checked, then
this setting is not blocking referrer
information. Continue with step
16.
- If the box is checked and the
Referer box is set to Block, change
the setting to Permit.
- Click
Apply,
and
then
click
OK.
This
closes
Advanced
Options.
- Click
OK
again,
and
then
close
the
program.
Q. I don't have any pop-up
blockers or firewall and can't go to advertisers
websites or see images.
A.
Many factors can
cause this problem, but the most common reason
is that Kazaa or ad blocking software
has changed your "hosts" file on your computer.
Normally this file is blank
and it wont harm your PC if you delete
it.
Try these steps to solve
the problem:
- Find the following file:
Windows 95/98/ME: "c:\windows\hosts"
Windows XP Home/Pro: "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
Windows NT or 2000: "c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
- Edit
the "host" file
by
right-clicking
the
file,
then
select "open
with" and
then select "Notepad".
- Delete
the
following
lines
if
any
present:
service.bfast.com
click.linksynergy.com
clickserve.cc-dt.com
commission-junction.com
tradedoubler.com
omg.com
cj.com
qksrv.net
- Save
the file.
